Nutrition Tip: Fill Up on Fat
Most of the time my patients are surprised when I tell them to be quite liberal with fat. The truth is, fat does not make you fat, sugar does. Good quality fats can actually help you achieve better sugar control, feel full for longer periods of time, and do wonders for your waistline and skin.
Good sources of fat include: eggs, avocados, nuts, seeds, olives, olive oil, full fat dairy, and coconut oil. A word of the wise, when cooking with fat, you want to choose fats that have a high smoke point, meaning they don’t go bad when you heat them up. Using butter, coconut or grape seed oil are all good for cooking.
