Jennifer Shiflet, Physiotherapist
Jennifer Shiflet, PT, DPT is a registered physiotherapist with more than seven years of progressive experience in orthopaedic, vestibular and concussion rehabilitation. Jennifer is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, where she received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She is also a summa cum laude graduate at the University of South Carolina, in which she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science.
Jennifer has held licensure and successfully treated patients in Ontario, Illinois, Massachusetts, Georgia, South Carolina and California. She is registered with the College of Physiotherapist of Ontario and is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). Jennifer has additional education in manual therapy (hands-on), orthopaedics, functional movement systems, vestibular and concussion rehabilitation, and functional dry needling.
Jennifer believes that every patient’s needs are different and unique. She uses one-on-one, individualized care to provide the best treatment possible. Jennifer applies her manual skills (hands-on approach) and knowledge of movement and body to assess each individual. She likes to incorporate a combination of manual therapy techniques, functional dry needling, therapeutic exercise, and neuromuscular re-education into her sessions to successfully treat underlying drivers of pain or dysfunction.
In addition to treating individuals with orthopedic issues, Jennifer also specializes in vestibular disorders, such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular hypofunction, vestibular neuritis, labyrinthitis, and concussion-related dizziness, to name a few. She has worked with professional and recreational athletes, as well as adolescents and seniors. Her expertise in orthopedics, concussion and vestibular rehabilitation has given her the distinguished opportunity to work at some of today’s leading medical institutes, such as Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Spaulding Rehabilitation in Cape Cod before joining the team at Simcoe Health.
Dr. Shiflet believes that a positive attitude, healthy lifestyle and a whole body approach goes a long way when it comes to rehabilitation.
