Stefanie Mathes, Psychotherapist
Stefanie Mathes is a registered Psychotherapist with a MA in Psychology from McGill University. She has been trained in individual counseling and therapy as well as in the administration and interpretation of a variety of psycho-educational, psycho-social, personality and career instruments and psychological assessments with adults. She has also received training and mentorship in relationship and marital counseling..
Stefanie meets clients non-judgmentally, and her approach is uniquely dynamic, collaborative, and solution-focused, with therapeutic presence and authenticity. She has experience with depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, trauma & PTSD, personality disorders, impulse control and emotion dysregulation issues, ADD/ADHD and addictions, as well as relationship difficulties and struggles with self-esteem.
As Stefanie has worked in frontline and private practice settings, her clients have ranged from people struggling with homelessness to extremely successful professionals who are highly functioning but silently struggle. As a result, she strongly believes that everybody can be empowered to create lasting change and to find true meaning in their life.
Stefanie is always solution focused and collaborative in her work. She borrows from Psychodynamic and Attachment-based Theories, appreciating the importance and impact of our earliest impressions and primary relationships. She also utilizes strategies and components of Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), as well as Mindfulness based approaches.
